April 2008 Update - A Reasonably Inexpensive Device
One device that is claiming effectiveness against pathogenic strains of bacteria, viruses, fungi, prions, unicellular protozoa and their toxins is the URO-BIOFON. You can read more about this device on the biofon.ru web site. It sells for less than $1000.
May 2002 Update - Some Effective Defenses
Britain has proclaimed an effort to breed livestock to get rid of prion diseases. Scientists are focusing on a form of a sheep gene called ARR. They're working to increase the frequency of that form because it has been linked to resistance to spongy-brain diseases. Sheep carrying two copies of the gene form and that were fed tissue from infected cattle still looked healthy after almost 6 years, but if the sheep were instead inoculated with the bovine material, they revealed symptoms after 3 years. Moreover, sheep without the gene form developed symptoms as early as 16 months after inoculation.
In other experiments, Paul Brown of the National Institutes of Health in Bethesda, Md., and his colleagues exposed meat to pulses of pressure starting at 100,000 pounds per square inch and temperatures ranging from 121° to 137°C. This dramatically reduced the dangers of infection, Brown says. From Science news Online
Jan 2002 Update - Blood Test For Mad Cow In People, and Animals Patented
A British biotech firm said on Wednesday it had won the world's first patent for a blood test for mad cow disease and hoped to launch the breakthrough diagnostic kit in around a year's time. Proteome Sciences Plc said its test, now covered by an Australian patent, could be used to screen national blood banks for vCJD as well as to diagnose disease in individuals and animals. At the moment, the only definitive way to detect mad cow disease, or bovine spongiform encephalopathy (BSE), and its human version, variant Creutzfeldt-Jakob disease (vCJD), is by analysis of brain samples after death. A simple blood test would allow doctors to confirm the disease earlier in patients showing symptoms and let vets monitor the condition in animals before slaughter. Several biotech companies are chasing the goal of a blood test, but Christopher Pearce, chief executive of the Surrey-based group, believes Proteome Sciences is in the lead. ``This is the first time there have been any patents issued in relation to the detection of variant CJD and BSE in blood,'' he told Reuters. ``Australia happens to be the first patent to come out. Patents applications in Europe and the US are also well underway. ``We are now actively talking to prospective partners who will bring commercial tests to the marketplace...in 12-18 months.''
The test works by detecting changes in prion proteins that occur in humans and animals with the debilitating brain diseases. Swiss-based Serono SA, which has developed a novel way of amplifying prions to make them easier to detect, is also working on a diagnostic test and hopes to find a licensing partner for its product in the first half of this year. The human version of mad cow disease was first detected in 1996 by scientists who believe it is caught from eating beef contaminated with BSE. So far, there have more than 100 cases of vCJD worldwide, nearly all of them in Britain.
Now back to the original article.
Creutzfeldt-Jakob (CJD) is showing up in the USA. It is caused by Prions, a type of protein that live in livestock and infect humans that eat food products of infected livestock. Prions also seem to cause Mad Cow disease. All blood from infected people is contaminated and spreads the disease if used in transfusions. There is no blood test to determine infection so blood banks can't screen for it. Offspring of infected livestock are born infected. Both parents and offspring can be slaughtered long before symptoms appear.
Your Brain on Prions, Note the Congestion of Blood Vessels
Human incubation is 20 to 40 years, but no one survives more than two years after Creutzfeldt-Jakob disease (CJD) goes active. Unlike AIDS, CJD can kill almost all known species of vertebrates. Unlike bacteria or virus, Prions are not killed by several minutes of boiling, baking, chlorine, alcohol or by any known antibiotic or antiviral agent. Gelatin from the infected animals can be an agent of transmission and gelatin is used in 60% of pharmaceutical products. There is an international trade in gelatin.
In a Yale University study 13% of clinically-diagnosed Alzheimer patients were found on autopsy to have CJD. CJD is so hard to track that the British government says somewhere between 50 and 50 million British people are infected with a similar disease, Mad Cow. To try and contain the disease, the USA will not accept blood donations from any British people. CJD may turn out to be a sexually transmitted disease. Insects have been shown to transmit the disease from one animal to another. More time is needed to tell if this is actually happening.
Sterilization
does not kill prions. They can take extreamly high temperatures even surviving
cremation and become released into the air after such burning. Prions are
virtually indestructible. Hundreds of scientific reports describe how prions
cannot be frozen to death, do not respond to any antibiotics or chemical
treatments and withstand temperatures of approximately 1000 degrees F. However,
only one study ever done (or released to the public...) on invasive, reusable
medical (tonsillectomy) instruments in the UK, over 50% of the instruments
were found to be contaminated with deadly prions AFTER REPEATED
STERILIZATIONS.
There is a simple way to stop it, but the FDA is dragging its feet and completely failing to do the right thing. But, you can help; keep reading.
Under current FDA regulations, animals known to be infected with mad cow-type disease such as deer, elk and sheep, can be legally fed to pigs, chickens and pets, which in turn can be rendered and fed to cows. Billions of pounds of slaughterhouse waste in the form of rendered animal by-products are fed to U.S. livestock every year as fat and protein supplements, despite this practice being the known route of transmission.
A fatal "mad deer" disease called chronic wasting disease is occurring at epidemic levels in deer and elk in Western states and on game farms, CFS legal director Joseph Mendelson wrote in the letter to the FDA. This may already be claiming human lives as is suggested by the alarming appearance of unusually young victims of CJD.
Organic meat comes from animals that are not fed meat by products. This greatly reduces the spread of decease.
Handle blood and bone fertilizer with gloves.
Help stop all animal rendering.
There is a way to stop CJD, have the FDA pass legislation to stop animal rendering. But, the FDA is dragging their feet.
Washington, D.C.-- Public health advocates are demanding that the Food and Drug Administration close loopholes in animal feed regulations to prevent the spread of U.S. mad cow-type diseases -- now at epidemic levels in Western deer and elk -- that might infect people who eat meat.
In a letter sent today to the FDA, the Center for Food Safety (CFS), the Humane Farming Association and families of U.S. victims of the human version of mad cow disease, Creutzfeldt-Jakob disease (CJD), are demanding new efforts to protect public health and food safety. The FDA was asked to respond to a legal petition filed in January 1999 that would change U.S. animal feed regulations to prevent the spread of U.S. mad cow-type diseases already occurring in deer, elk, sheep and humans, and suspected in pigs and cattle.
Go to the Test Cows Now (http://www.testcowsnow.com/) web site and sign the petition.
This May be Out of Date:
For advanced freedom fighters, the Federal docket number is 99P-0033/CP1, the FDA Docket Number is 7774.
The first legal petition demands that the U.S. Centers for Disease Control (CDC) aggressively look for CJD in humans and make CJD a reportable and monitored disease. This petition is also being filed in all fifty states with the appropriate state health officials.
The second legal petition demands that the Food and Drug Administration (FDA) close serious loopholes in U.S. animal feed regulations which currently allow types of cannibalistic feeding practices known to cause and spread 'mad cow' type diseases in animals and humans. For instance, current U.S. regulations allow calves to be fed milk replacer containing cattle blood protein, and pigs to be fed back to pigs and cattle. U.S. sheep infected with scrapie, a 'mad cow' type disease, can be used for pet and pig feed in the U.S.
Commenting on today's legal actions Bradley Miller, National Director of the Humane Farming Association stated, "TSEs represent a potentially devastating threat to both human and animal health. Our government's response to date has been shamefully inadequate. These legal actions provide a blueprint by which federal and state agencies can act decisively to prevent a TSE epidemic in this country."
The BSE Inquiry was announced by Dr Jack Cunningham, the former English Minister of Agriculture, Fisheries and Food, and Frank Dobson, Secretary of State for Health, on 22 December 1997. The first hearing was held on 9 March 1998.
The goal of the inquiry was to establish and review the history of the emergence and identification of BSE and the new variant CJD in the United Kingdom, and of the action taken in response to it up to the 20th March 1996; to reach conclusions on the adequacy of that response.
Since evidence given to the BSE inquiry now runs into millions of words, it may not be surprising the media have long since lost interest. But the handful of insomniacs who have tried to follow the convolutions of the hearing through its website may have observed how, over the months, a fascinating alternative scenario for the BSE disaster has gradually emerged, punching ever larger holes in the credibility of the government's chief advisers.
This began when evidence from tests carried out by Dr Stephen Whatley seemed to confirm that the trigger for the BSE epidemic might have been MAFF's own insistence that millions of dairy cows should be treated with abnormally high doses of OP chemicals, significantly weakening their immune system. Then earlier this year came the shocking revelation of how widely in the late 1980s the pharmaceutical companies were "harvesting" brain and lymphoid tissue from dead cattle in slaughterhouses to manufacture human vaccines. These could well have come from cattle infected with BSE. This has now led to a possibly even more disturbing revelation.
Not only were the pharmaceutical companies scavenging material to turn into vaccines. It has emerged in evidence from abattoir owners that they were also regularly collecting hormones from dead cattle to be injected into both other cattle and human beings.
And although there is no definite evidence that vaccines could have spread the infection, there is, alas, plenty of evidence that the injection of infected hormones can cause human Creutzfeld Jakob Disease (CJD). Furthermore the practice of injecting cows with hormones from other cattle was very widespread. if these hormones happened to come from BSE-infected animals, this could provide a much more plausible explanation for the wildfire spread of the epidemic than the use of infected cattle feed. When this point was recently raised at the inquiry, it created as much of a moment of drama as Sir Donald Acheson's earlier squirming over vaccines. Interviewed over a video link, the distinguished American epidemiologist Professor Wayne Martin put precisely this question: was it possible that the decline in BSE after 1992 came from ending "the usage of bovine materials in pharmaceuticals"?
Stunned silence.
The only sound was that of the embarrassed shuffling of papers by the assembled official experts, led by MAFF, s chief epidemiologist John Wilesmith. Lord Phillips suggested: "I think Mr Wilesemith is the man really to turn to."
The stammered response he eventually got was: "Obviously it is possible to go back to pharmaceutical companies to detemiine their use of bovine tissues." In other words, we don't know because we never looked into it. When Phillips pursued the question, by asking whether the cause of the epidemic might have been that "all cattle were injected with this particular product", Wilesmith was eventually forced to admit: "If that was the origin we have lost the trail."
In other words, he couldn't rule out that hormones might have played a crucial part in the BSE epidemic; but it was all so long ago we may never know. It was a reply which should raise rather larger questions in the judge's mind than Mr Wilesmith was obviously competent to answer.

One Final Mystery Uncovered
I don't sell anything, but I found black and white proof that the National Cancer Institute (NCI)) falsified their test results of a safe cancer/viral treatment. NCI gets $2 billion of our tax money each year until they find a cure for cancer, so finding the cure would be the end of their comfortable jobs. That might explain their duplicity. If you:
